<description>&lt;strong&gt;Department description&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Within Philips Lighting in Eindhoven, the Global Organization Applications Lighting (GOAL) department connects marketing to technology by facilitating the translation from user needs &amp;amp; wishes into specifications and claims for innovative lighting products. In the end-user driven innovation process light effects and concepts are defined, built and tested with end-users. GOAL works in many application segments such as Healthcare, Office, Industry, Retail, Hospitality, and Outdoor.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The position for a post doctoral research fellow light, health, well-being and circadian biology is for a duration of 2 years. The position is available per direct, preferably the job start is within 2010. After 2 years, prolongation of the job will be considered.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The fellow will be part of the GOAL application team.  The fellow will work closely together with the program manager (&lt;u&gt;luc.schlangen@philips.com&lt;/u&gt;) to execute and define global activities in the light, health &amp;amp; well-being program within GOAL .&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Candidate responsibilities&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The fellow works in the area of light, health, well-being and circadian rhythms. (S)he:&lt;br /&gt;1.    defines and executes research projects &lt;br /&gt;2.    supports internal claim validation studies with up to date scientific knowledge and experience on questionnaires and psycho-physiological parameters that are relevant for light applications&lt;br /&gt;3.    contributes to existing international research collaborations &amp;amp; helps shaping new ones&lt;br /&gt;4.    contributes to the organization and execution of clinical trials, together with in- and external partners&lt;br /&gt;Key areas of responsibility:&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Increase the Philips knowledge on the influence of lighting on humans in biological and psychological ways&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Implement this knowledge into business projects&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Contribute to existing international collaboration projects &amp;amp; initiate new options&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Support claim validation research projects and clinical trials with literature research, protocol definition, data collection and -interpretation &lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Build and extend the global network with leading research institutions for the light, health and well-being theme&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    IP generation in the area of light, health&amp;amp; well-being&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Write and present scientific papers and literature research/review reports&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Candidate profile&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Desired experience:&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    PhD, or comparable experience, in Life Sciences, Psycho-Physiology , Biophysics or Biochemistry&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Experience within research collaborations, preferably international&lt;br /&gt;Know-how/skills:&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Psycho-physiological and behavioral research methods&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Light and its role in circadian biology, biological rhythms &amp;amp; light therapy&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Organization and execution of Clinical (field) trials&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Knowledge and understanding of statistical methods&lt;br /&gt;Required personal characteristics:&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Enthusiasm to generate and exchange scientific knowledge, and make it of relevance for practical (business) applications&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Value other opinions, but also defend own opinions with evidence and conviction &lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Ability to set priorities and persist while supporting business/customers in research projects&lt;br /&gt;&amp;bull;    Open mind for new initiatives and ideas (even in the rebound)&lt;br /&gt;Philips is an equal opportunity employer and diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;If you are interested in this challenging position, I kindly invite you to apply.
